Water level sensors are electronic devices that measure liquid height by converting it into an electrical signal. This prevents overflow and dry tanks, and enables the operation of automatic pumps or alarm systems. Sensors are broadly categorised as contact (e.g., floats, pressure sensors, and capacitive probes). All of which are submerged in the water. Or, non-contact (such as ultrasonic and radar sensors), which operate from above. Applications range from industrial tanks and wastewater treatment to environmental monitoring of rivers and lakes, and home use for leak detection and smart irrigation.
