The Einstar 2 Handheld 3D Scanner by Shining 3D is lightweight and dual-mode. It is a wireless 3D scanner built for makers, students, engineers, and hobbyists.

Weight & Design: It weighs 420 grams and fits comfortably in the hand (comparable in size to a thick smartphone). Additionally, it features a true wireless design with swappable 18650-style batteries providing up to 3 hours of continuous use. Moreover, it can also run wired via USB-C.

Dual Scanning Modes:

• Laser HD Mode (17 Parallel Laser Lines): Captures up to 2.5 million points per second (90 fps) with high-detail resolution ranging from 0.05 mm to 10 mm. Ideal for small-to-medium objects, dark surfaces, reflective metals, and reverse engineering. Works in bright outdoor lighting up to 110,000 lux.
• IR Rapid Mode (Infrared VCSEL): Captures up to 4.8 million points per second (40 fps) with a resolution of 0.2 mm to 10 mm. Ideal for larger objects, full-body scans (completed in about 60 seconds), textures, and feature tracking without markers. Works in ambient lighting up to 70,000 lux.

Colour & Texture

Features an integrated RGB camera to capture full-colour textures and portraits.

Software

Powered by the EXStar Hub software interface for point-cloud cleanup, auto-alignment, mesh optimisation, and exporting to formats like STL and OBJ for 3D printing.

Connectivity

It supports 5 GHz Wi-Fi wireless streaming. Alternatively, you can use direct USB-C wired connection to a computer.
