Phantom CineMag – 8TB

The Phantom CineMag 8TB

At speeds up to 1.4 Gbps/sec, the proprietary Phantom CineMag 8TB is the fastest data transfer solution for compatible Phantom cameras. The CineMag is hot-swappable, establishing a fast and secure, streamlined workflow to handle the large files associated with high-speed imaging.

Users can record into the camera RAM and then “upload” to the CineMag in seconds. This eliminates camera downtime between shots. If your application requires longer record times, the CineMag can be used in Run/Stop (R/S) mode to bypass RAM and direct recording to the CineMag, allowing for several minutes of recording time at lower frame rates.

CineMag Features:
  • Loop Mode
  • Auto-Save
  • Direct-Record (Run/Stop) Mode
  • Playback over SDI

The CineMag 5e is the current CineMag version and is available in 2TB and 8TB sizes. The CineMag 5e is compatible with the Phantom Flex4K, vXX12, vXX40, TMX and T-Series cameras with the ‘Mag’ option. Note that the CineMag II, IV, IV-Pro and CineMag V are now discontinued.

Phantom CineMag recording media manages large data volumes, improving high-speed imaging workflows in multiple ways:
  • Efficiency: The CineMag 5e transfers data at speeds up to 1.4 Gbps/sec, the fastest for Phantom cameras.
  • Reliability: Non-volatile memory protects data during power loss. A write-protect switch prevents accidental reformatting.
  • Hot-swappable: Swap CineMags during shoots to maximise image capture. Download later or use a dedicated workstation with CineStation IV.
  • Portability: No need to connect the camera directly to a computer workstation.
The CineMag supports two recording modes:
  • Loop Mode: Record into the camera RAM, review, and upload in seconds. Use with Multi-Cine and auto-save for full automation.
  • Direct Recording: For longer record times, use Run/Stop (R/S) mode to record directly to the Phantom CineMag 8TB at lower frame rates.

Loop Mode Capture to the camera’s RAM at the highest frame rate, then quickly transfer to the CineMag. For example, a 64 GB file will
transfer in less than 1 minute.
Run/Stop (R/S) Mode Direct Record to the CineMag, bypassing RAM for longer record times at reduced frame rates. Refer to the frame rate table for examples.
Auto-Save Images in RAM are immediately saved to the CineMag when the camera is triggered. Use with multi-cine for maximum reduction
of downtime.
Video Playback Review the contents of CineMag using the camera’s video output and playback controls.
Write-protection Switch When the lock is enabled, contents can not be deleted.
