Qualisys MOCAP Systems

Qualisys MOCAP Systems provide cameras and software that capture full movements of humans, animals, and inanimate objects.

Their systems use cameras, markers, and specialised software like Qualisys Track Manager (QTM) to capture precise movement data. The camera systems deliver accuracy, low latency, and the ability to track a wide range of objects, including humans, animals, props, and cameras. A typical Qualisys setup includes high-speed video cameras (such as Arqus and Miqus), markers, and the QTM software. The cameras track markers placed on objects or individuals, and the QTM software processes the data to generate 3D representations of motion.

Applications

  • Sports: Analysing athletic movements, optimising performance, and preventing injuries.
  • Biomechanics: Studying human movement in research and clinical settings.
  • Entertainment: Creating realistic animations, virtual reality experiences, and visual effects.
  • Robotics: Developing and controlling robots, especially those that interact with humans.

Key Features

  • Accuracy: Qualisys systems are known for their high precision in capturing movement data.
  • Low Latency: The systems are designed to minimise the delay between movement and data capture, enabling real-time applications.
  • Real-time Tracking: Qualisys systems can track objects in real-time, allowing for immediate feedback and interaction.
  • Versatility: They can be used both indoors and outdoors, with passive or active markers, and can be integrated with other data acquisition devices.
  • QTM Software: The software provides tools for data collection, processing, analysis, and visualisation, and can be customised for various needs.

System Integration

Qualisys systems can be integrated with other devices like force plates, EMG systems, and eye trackers, providing a comprehensive solution for movement analysis.

Customisation

Qualisys offers various camera models and accessories to accommodate different research and application requirements.

Qualisys - Core Camera Range

Arqus - Extreme Performance

QUALISYS-ARQUS-B

Arqus stands as the industry’s highest-performing motion capture camera platform. It delivers superior resolution, maximum frame rates, and everything in between. Its advanced marker detection algorithms ensure exceptional accuracy, making Arqus the most “Arqurate” camera in the world. Because accuracy matters deeply to Qualisys, the company designed Arqus as its most accurate camera to date and launched the industry’s highest-resolution camera—by a mile.

Miqus - Capture More, With Less

Miqus-Motion-Capture-Camera-A

Miqus represents Qualisys’ smallest and most refined motion capture camera to date. It packs everything needed for a motion capture project into a compact, lightweight body. Just like all Qualisys mocap cameras, Miqus captures accurate data with very low latency, making it suitable for both small and large-scale projects. Users can rely on Miqus for setups ranging from small 3-camera educational systems to expansive installations with over 100 cameras.

The Power of Arqus - Underwater

Qualisys-Underwater-MOCAP-Cameras-A

Arqus Underwater delivers robust, high-resolution motion capture for long-range underwater measurements. It supports applications in vessel design, naval research, the fishing industry, and sports science. Its strobe uses 24 high-power deep-blue LEDs to illuminate markers at distances greater than 30 m (100 ft). A custom stainless steel/polycarbonate housing, pressure-tested to 40 m (130 ft), protects the system. The housing also thermally connects the LEDs for efficient cooling, ensuring maximum performance.

Orqus - MRI Camera

QUALISYS-MRI-CAMERA-ORQUS-A

The Qualisys MRI Camera makes capturing kinematics during functional MRI measurements simple and reliable. Designed specifically for MRI rooms, this unique motion capture camera operates without interfering with MR signals. Electromagnetic shielding creates a built-in Faraday cage, making the camera fully suitable for MR environments. In combination with other MRI-compatible equipment, it enables accurate measurement of arm movements, eye movements, and force control tasks.
